English Simple Recipes

Ingredients :

  1. 2 cups all-purpose flour
  2. 2 teaspoons baking powder
  3. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  4. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  5. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  6. 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  7. 3/4 cup milk

Instructions :

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with English Simple Recipes parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder. Mix well.
  3. Add the cold butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingertips to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Gradually add the milk, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the dough.
  6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it gently a few times until it comes together.
  7. Roll out the dough to English Simple Recipes about 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) thickness. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  8. Gather any remaining dough scraps, gently re-roll, and cut out more biscuits until all the dough is used.
  9. Bake the biscuits in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.
  10. Remove the biscuits from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for a few minutes.
