Ingredients:

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour English Simple Recipes (atta)
  • 1/2 cup grated carrot
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped fenugreek leaves (methi leaves)
  • 1 tablespoon oil or ghee
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder (optional, for some spiciness)
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala (optional, for extra flavor)
  • Salt to taste
  • Water (as needed)
  • Oil or ghee for cooking the parathas

Preparation Time:

  • 15 minutes
  • Cooking Time: 20 minutes
  • Makes: 6-8 parathas

Instructions:

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the English Simple Recipes whole wheat flour, grated carrot, chopped fenugreek leaves, oil or ghee, red chili powder (if using), turmeric powder, garam masala (if using), and salt. Mix well.
  • Gradually add water and knead the mixture into a smooth, soft dough. The dough should not be too tight or too loose. Cover the dough and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
  • Divide the dough into equal-sized balls and roll them into small discs using a rolling pin. You can use a little dry flour for dusting while rolling.
  • Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) over medium heat. Place one rolled disc on the tava.
  • Cook the paratha on both sides, applying some oil or ghee, until it turns golden brown and crispy.
  • Repeat the process for the remaining dough balls, making more parathas.
  • Serve the hot and delicious carrot and fenugreek leaves parathas with yogurt, pickle, or any chutney of your choice.
