English Simple Recipes

Ingredients:

For Misal:

  • 1 cup sprouted moth beans (matki)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • 2-3 green chilies, slit
  • 1-inch piece ginger, grated
  • 2-3 cloves English Simple Recipes garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 cups water
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

For Pav:

  • 4-6 pav (Indian bread rolls)
  • Butter, for toasting

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Misal:

  1. Heat Oil: In a Hindi Simple Recipes pan, heat oil over medium heat.
  2. Sauté Onions: Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add Ginger and Garlic: Stir in grated ginger and minced garlic. Cook for a minute.
  4. Add Tomatoes and Spices: Add chopped tomatoes, green chilies, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
  5. Add Sprouts: Stir in the sprouted moth beans and mix well.
  6. Add Water: Pour in water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, until the beans are cooked and the mixture thickens.
  7. Finish with Garam Masala: Stir in garam masala and cook for another 2 minutes. Adjust salt if needed.

2. Prepare the Pav:

  1. Toast the Pav: In a Marathi Simple Recipe sseparate pan, melt some butter and toast the pav until golden brown on both sides.

3. Serve:

  1. Garnish Misal: Serve the misal hot, garnished with fresh coriander leaves.
  2. Accompaniments: Serve with toasted pav and lemon wedges on the side.
