Kokum Kadhi – Simple Recipe
Ingredients:

10–12 dried kokum petals (also called amsul)

1 cup thin yogurt (curd)

2 cups water
-
1 tsp ghee or oil
-
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
-
A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
-
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
-
1/2 tsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
-
1/2 tsp sugar (optional)
-
Salt to taste
-
1–2 green chilies (slit or chopped)
-
Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
🔪 Instructions:
1. Soak Kokum
Soak the kokum in 1 English Simple Recipes cup warm water for 15–20 minutes. After soaking, gently mash it and strain the liquid. Keep aside.
2. Prepare the Tempering

In a pan, heat oil or ghee.

Add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.

Add asafoetida, turmeric, and red chili powder.

Add green chilies and sauté for a few seconds.
3. Make the Kadhi

Add the kokum Hindi Simple Recipes water and another cup of water into the pan.

Add salt and sugar. Let it come to a light boil for 5–7 minutes.

Simmer for 2–3 minutes (do not boil after adding yogurt).
4. Garnish
Turn off the heat. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
